The purpose of the project was to renovate the B Block of Tikipunga High School and transform it into a modern, eye-catching, and comfortable learning space, composed of two media rooms, two foyers, two collaboration spaces, four classrooms and five workrooms with improved accessibility. The project involved demolishing the existing ceilings and block walls using concrete saws and effective dust management, asbestos removal and assessment, fabrication, and installation of structural steel portals for new window and door openings, wall framing and block wall strapping, insulation supply and installation, supply and installation of new internal and external aluminium joinery including flashings and cladding to suit, new wall linings with painted trims and Autex composition board, new carpet tiles and entrance matting and a new suspended ceiling. It also included the construction of new external decking and seating, security alarm upgrades to coincide with the new doors, supply and installation of a new ventilation and air conditioning system throughout, extension of a type 4 fire alarm and new emergency lighting works. This will set them up for using the area for multi purposes going forward.
